HealthGadgetMD Score
Our scoring system is designed to provide a consistent, transparent and easy-to-understand evaluation of health technology products.
Why We Created Our Own Score
Every health technology product has different strengths and weaknesses. A smartwatch should not be judged using the same criteria as a blood pressure monitor, and a health app should not be evaluated like a pulse oximeter.
The HealthGadgetMD Score provides a structured framework that allows readers to compare products fairly while recognising the unique characteristics of each category.
How Scores Are Calculated
Each product is assessed across multiple categories. Depending on the product type, the weighting of individual criteria may vary to reflect what matters most for that device.
| Category | Weight |

| Ease of Use | 15% |
| Value for Money | 15% |
| Build Quality | 10% |
| App Experience | 10% |
| Privacy & Security | 5% |

Understanding Our Ratings
| Score | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 9.5 – 10 | Outstanding. Among the best products available. |
| 9.0 – 9.4 | Excellent. Highly recommended with only minor limitations. |
| 8.0 – 8.9 | Very Good. Performs well and offers strong value. |
| 7.0 – 7.9 | Good. Suitable for many users but has notable compromises. |
| 6.0 – 6.9 | Average. Acceptable, but better alternatives may exist. |
| Below 6 | Not Recommended unless there is a specific reason to choose it. |
Category-Specific Evaluation
Different products are evaluated differently. For example:
- Blood pressure monitors place greater emphasis on measurement performance and usability.
- Smartwatches focus more heavily on health features, software experience and battery life.
- Health apps are assessed with greater attention to privacy, security and user experience.
- Home medical devices are evaluated for reliability, ease of operation and practical value.
Can Manufacturers Influence Scores?
No.
Manufacturers cannot purchase higher ratings, improve scores through sponsorship or influence our editorial conclusions.
Our scoring methodology is applied consistently across products regardless of brand, price or commercial relationships.
Our Promise
A high score reflects our editorial assessment based on the information available at the time of publication. It is not a certification, guarantee or endorsement, and readers should consider their own needs before making a purchase.
Why Transparency Matters
We believe readers deserve to understand not only what score a product receives, but also how that score was determined. That’s why every review links back to this page and explains the strengths and limitations that influenced the final rating.
